"It takes a tremendous amount of energy for parents to raise their children with physical disabilities."
My most recent lecture is about parenting a child with special needs. I developed this lecture to present to Special Education Parent -Teacher Associations (SEPTA) and other family groups.

With SEPTA families in Orangetown, New York
I discuss how loving a child is essential and regardless of a child’s needs, he or she is able to sense that love. I emphasize to parents that learning how to manage their feelings about their child is a process that takes different forms over time.
It takes a tremendous amount of energy on the part of parents to bring a child with special needs to their fullest potential, whatever that may be.
The lecture is filled with examples of my family’s journey from my birth until today and the important relationships we have had with medical professionals, aides, therapists and teachers who worked with us along the way.
Afterwards I encourage questions and conversations about parenting children with special needs.
